I'm a bit on the loud side
you'd say when you meet me
I have strong opinions
you'd say when you meet me

I don't suffer fools gladly
you'd say when you meet me
I'm aggressive and bolshie
You'd say when you meet me

but that's just the outside
I don't say when you meet me
that's not what's inside
I don't say when you meet me

I'm cripplingly shy
I want to scream when I meet you
I don't think much of me
I want to whisper when I meet you

My palms are sweaty
I can't say when I meet you
My chest is hurting
I can't wheeze when I meet you

So I'm loud and I'm brash
and I talk and I laugh
and I know all the answers
AND YOU NEVER MEET ME

most people don't believe it , they think that the facade is real, but I've been lucky enough to have just a few who've seen past it !

Most people don't see past it as they are not really looking, their either to shallow or trying to keep their own facade look real.

I wonder what we are all so scared of.

I think the key is fear of judgement. We put on a show, and we already know how people will react, so it's under our control. It's a shield, a shell, so no-one can see the real us.

What it takes is trust. When you have someone who accepts you at your worst, then you can be real. Sometimes our show is a test. Accept me like this, and I will show you the real thing. However, it takes a lot of courage to drop our shields.

When you can drop your shields, when you can accept yourself as you truly are, it is liberating. It is like standing on solid rock, immovable and unshakable.

You can stand tall and say "This is me, like it or move on", not out of pride or bravado, but as a statement "What you see is all there is. This is me."

I am fortunate to have friends who accept me as I am, with all my faults and failings, all my weirdness, all my stupid jokes.

I am me. I am no better than anyone else. I am not better looking, stronger, or more intelligent. I do not know more than others. I am not wiser. I am just me.

This is me, like it or move on.

Taking a risk that's the key I guess, letting people see who you are and risking rejection. Hard.

Loved that poem Gwenllian, really powerful stuff.
Thanks

Being rejected isn't bad, provided it is viewed in the right way. If a person rejects us, it says more about them than it does us. If we feel rejected, it may be because we have invested too much in another person's opinion of us. A person rejecting us does not change us. We are the same person before, and we will be the same person after. We have a right to be us, whatever other people might think. We should not change to suit other people's opinions and viewpoints. We SHOULD change to rid ourselves of those parts of our character and nature that hinder us from being our true selves - things like hatred, bitterness, addictions, pride, jealousy and the like.

Well it's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who feels like this, maybe I'll find the courage to break our one day, I've acted this part for so long now it's kind of hard to find the real me anymore!!
