I will push the limit to five hundred words for those of you who have more to say and start the new limit with a true story I, myself, would like to tell. I will try to keep it brief.
My mother, Viktoria, was a beautiful woman…still is. Unfortunately, I didn’t inherit her looks, but the madness that runs through us all is deeply rooted in my soul. I cannot help that. It is part of my nature as a Kishi Devil’s daughter, just as my mother cannot help her state of mind. The curse that comes with falling in love with a Kishi is a horrific one.
So...to the story:
THE INTRUDER
Viktoria sat quietly...combing her hair in front of the mirror. She saw a dark figure behind her and her eyes, now reddened by Hell’s own disease, locked on to the image. She turned and grabbed the intruder. Her strength was too much for the creature and they both soon fell to the ground with Viktoria proudly kneeling on her prey…her hand gripped tightly around its throat. She reached for a knife she kept hidden in a sheath at her waist. With ten, or more, swipes at her victim, she slashed hard and deep until she could no longer recognize even a single facial feature. Then, she ripped into its torso with her bare hands…pulling and dragging with anger.
After a while, she calmed herself and left the lifeless form. As blood flowed steadily from the gaping wounds, Viktoria sat back down, without a sound, to continue combing her beautiful hair.
Suddenly, her Kishi lover, Zandrok, was at the window. She leaped up to greet him. Her eyes brightened as he rushed to hold her in his arms. He had feared he would be too late. A rival clan had sought revenge for his destruction of a few of their Demon brothers. They had found Viktoria and sent one of their most vicious clan members to slay her.
Viktoria pointed to the floor where the bloody creature lay, still bleeding out its dark and pungent blood. Zandrok was relieved at the sight of her handiwork. He worried that, this time, she had been lucky and, next time, there may be more of them. Then, he gazed into Viktoria’s eyes and realized just how much his curse had changed her. He regretted the tragic effect his love was having, but couldn’t stay away. He looked back at the putrid mess of entrails at their feet. He realized there was nothing to fear. Viktoria was, indeed, now a creature of Hell herself and her own instincts would keep her alive.
