Urat Holme's tavern is a days ride from here. I shall be needing your support and protection, not just from the Black Pillar brethren, but from Philomena... I guess that she'll be angry with me...

Strength in numbers. The fight if it comes will be a terrible one, and we may not survive, but at least we will fall with honour, knowing that we fought for the greater good.

Elios, take this torch and guard the shack. We must be maintain watch at all times. Take care my friend, I'll take over in a few hours.

We'll dig up some worms for you, you must be hungry. You looking over my shoulder Elios?... Yes... A dragon.... So it would seem... They never cease to amaze me... But as much as I wish to be by her side, we must stay here for now. We must think of a strategy to defeat the Black Pillar followers. We can either all group together at the tavern, but this would mean that Kursk would most certainly attack us there, and I have no wish to make the tavern their prime target... Or we can venture deeper into the swamp and attack our enemies. I suppose there is a third option. We wait here for Keeler and use this shack as our base of operations. What do you think?

It is unlike you not to know what to do Kalvos. You wish to protect the tavern, I understand why but do you really think Slayvern Kursk won't touch those at the tavern because we are not there? If we attack now, it can only lead to bloodshed. Waiting here is an option but what will it achieve? The shack is vulnerable to attack and if we wait here we have no idea what the enemy is planning. At least at the tavern the mermaid can look in her mirror at what the enemy are doing. She does have a mirror I presume? You do trust her and her friends at the tavern? It is like you said, safety in numbers and I would rather be part of the numbers that has the big dragon on its side. If we show strength they are less likely to attack immediately and that will give us time to plan our next move. We should get going now be there by sunrise. Let's not wait for Keeler, he won't concern himself with the safety of those at the tavern and I know that it is one of your main concerns although I understand if you do not share that thought with the others. If you are sure the mermaid can be trusted, the tavern is our best option.

Besides I am quite keen to meet this legendary beauty, I hear that she is so charming that even Remus Casson is smitten and has a portrait of her in his private chambers... and that she is quite a thorn in Kellerman Bolte's side after her standing up for the krogs. Quite a character. Are you afraid how she is going to react?

Yes Kalvos. I agree with Elios, we should get back to the Tavern and take charge of the situation. I also think you need to get back to that lady of yours and take her in hand. You seem to be beneath her thumb my friend. That will never do, she needs to know her place. I think she needs to go over your knee......

That might work with human women Trylax but mermaids are altogether different creatures. They are enchanting, beautiful but deadly if you cross them and will wait half a century to settle a grudge. Did you not hear what they did to the. Kanaran navy over one mermaid killed forty years ago? Just tell her how lovely her hair looks and I am sure she will forgive you.

Women are women Elios, whatever their background. There's only one way to deal with them, a firm hand. Start letting them getting the upper hand and you're in trouble. You have to show them who's boss from the word go Kalvos, Mark my words. You need to nip it in the bud before she gets out of hand or you'll never have any peace.
