Father christmas it would seem was never ever late

But this fine year while we all slept it seems he tempted fate,

For waking up with such a start, the clock had just chimed 3

This christmas would come late for some it could be you and me!

So Rudolph raced off in the night with santa on his sleigh

But they both new that all was lost as night drew into day

As sorry tears from santas eyes dropped slowly from the sky

And with it hope for all the kids as xmas day drew nigh

But just as all seemed lost that night and misery was certain

Santas tears were spotted by an elve behind a curtain,

Before they landed on the ground the elves were on a mission

300 sleighs with jingle bells all fighting for position

So off they went out here and there, no-one was forgotten

Without the elves wer"e all quite sure this christmas would be rotten

The presents were all out on time and santa cried a tear

But this time it was tears of joy his friends had saved the year

Now Dont despair for santas fate he will not come to harm,

the Elves have been on Ebay and bought him a new alarm!

Santa Misadventure

I saw Santa stuck in a chimney
Down the lane at a house in Grimney
I watched him as he parked his sleigh
And approached a house with much dismay
And realized he had a bulky present
To deliver to a Mrs Pheasant
A dwarf who lived in a small abode
In a house in Grimney road
He had a goose for her Christmas dinner
At times liked this he wished he was thinner
He climbed the wall despite his size
And gripped a drainpipe with his thighs
Heaving upwards, such a strain
Being bulky is a pain.
The chimney top was not that wide
But he barely got a foot inside
He clenched his cheeks and slid in deep
‘Let’s hope those dwarves are fast asleep’.
Then Santa had a second thought
‘My widened hips have quickly caught
Against the narrow blocks of stone
I wish I was more skin and bone’
The mistake was simply due to race
And Santa’s desire to stuff his face
Dwarf houses really are too small
And Santa now felt such a fool
But the elves they had a bright idea
‘Do not worry have no fear’
‘A rubber plunger will do the trick’
‘It’ll suck you from that cage of brick’
The Leader Elf straddled Santa
And calmed him with some elfish banter
He plunged the device down on Santa’s head
And pulled so hard that his face turned red
‘Hold on tight, I’m pulling hard!’
And Santa wobbled like a ton of lard.
He wiggled and tugged and Santa came loose
But the fire below, that cooked his goose!

The streets were quiet that christmas eve
as I made my way back home
I'd been with friends, we'd had a ball
But now I walked alone

Christmas is all about presents , right
well it is when you're sixteen years old
and I wondered what tomorrow would bring
as I hunched against the cold

Then suddenly drifting on the breeze
I heard the sound of bells
coming from the nearby church
and my eyes began to well

The sound so mournful yet so sweet
was like a siren call
and I swear that at that moment
the snow began to fall

The whole thing sounds so cheesy
and I'm forty years older now
but that moment lit a fire in me
that in my heart still glows

Santa wasn't up my chimney
I know cos I checked it twice
and I really haven't been naughty
only very nice

I left him lots of mince pies
and a carrot for Rudolph too
but still my stocking was empty
what was a girl to do?

Perhaps there's a birds nest up there
that must be it I'm sure
so I put a ladder up to the roof
I borrowed it from next door

I was halfway up the ladder
when I heard the policeman call
Now then miss, what's all this?
and that's when I began to fall

I fell backwards off the ladder
a terrible sight to see
and the next thing I remember
is waking in A and E!

My left leg wasn't broken
my concussion has nearly passed
I've a plaster on my forehead
and my right arm in a cast

I know this sounds unlikely
But I'm never one to shirk
so that's why I write this letter
to explain why I'm not in work!!!!!

Christmas in Grimney

We’ve decorated the snoozle tree
Eve’s perching prettily on the top
How happy Grimney dwellers be
At least, for now the fighting stops

Philomena Aquitaine
Is looking radiant as the moons
She’s singing such a sweet refrain
It’s making all the men folk swoon

Gwen’s baked for an army, so it seems
Her banquet’s fit for Royal lips
The tavern’s bursting at the beams
I bet she hopes for lots of tips!

Look at Snoog, he scrubs up well!
That bow tie round his neck looks grand
But what he says no-one can tell
His words are hard to understand.

As Darius mingles with the crowd
Regaling them with tales of woe
He begs for tobran, he’s not proud
Just wish he wouldn’t stoop so low.

One thing this tavern guarantees
A privy fit for a royal flush
That is down to Sweeney Greene
He’s a wizard with a privy brush

Speaking of wizards, look who’s here!
Word Wizard makes a grand entrance
He seems by all to be revered
Judging by the show of deference

Now here comes that pretty Tanza
Quick ladies, Lock away your sons
Or she’ll have an extravaganza
And all that will be left are bones.

I’m glad that jolly Urat’s home
His friendly smile lights up this place
He’s like a little garden gnome
When he’s not there he leaves a space

Look at Meadow in the corner
Cuddling that creepy clam
Maybe someone ought to warn her
Markets sell them by the gram.

Kalvos looking smart as ever
Throws dirty looks across the room
At Vortigern who’s not too clever
Trying to part that bride and groom

Gnomeling’s dressed in mermaid’s clothes
People scatter when he dances
Quite where he’ll finish no-one knows
So they’re not taking any chances

Now the party’s in full swing
The guests are full of joy – for now
They drink and laugh and dance and sing
It’s Christmas, no-one wants to row

Grimney’s such a funny place
It’s like no place you’ve ever been
But the characters are really ace
They make you laugh and cry and scream!

I wrote this tale from memory
I didn’t check the site - not once!
So if I left you out, I’m sorry!
Don’t let it spoil the ambience

A Simple Christmas

A joyous season Christmas time
So I tried to think of words that rhyme
I’m not that good at poetry
Or words that rhyme with symmetry
I lack the depth of imagination
But I try to rise above my station
I simply like the Christmas cheer
A glass of wine or a pint of beer
I’m not religious
I lack belief
I simply like to sink my teeth
Into a mince pie or Xmas cake
In truth I simply like to bake
But I’m goodhearted I like to think
And l do enjoy a festive drink
Friends and family old and new
Grimney folk one thing is true
Let’s raise a glass of Grimney cheer
And enjoy the start of this New Year!
