Hi Elvira. You said write about what comes into your head so here goes...

As I strode through town one day,

Feeling fairly weary

A lady and a clip-board approached

Saying “Miss, I have a query”.

I looked away, I stepped aside,

She would not take the hint.

Then she followed after me,

When I broke into a sprint.

“A penny for your thoughts” she cried

“A pound for some of your time”.

“A fiver for your mortal soul”.

I said “I must decline”.

I ran off, but she gave chase,

“Wait a moment please”.

I collided with a bus stop then,

Fell down and scraped my knees.

Triumphantly she stood over me

She held back a smirk somehow

She asked “Have you ever been hurt and it wasn’t your fault?”

“Yes” I said “Just now!”

Ah Nydas, Baggage, Tanza, Elvira, Sushi and all. What talent you have! Indeed, it is the cat that rules humanity!

I thank you all for what you said
Your words have swelled my furry head!
My name is Robert Devlin
I'm a classy kind of cat
I spend my time
Composing rhyme
Or sleeping on the mat
I'm purrfect
I'm unique
And I write all night and day
I know I cannot speak
But I've plenty more to say!
For now just stroke my fur
As I purr upon your lap
For cats that always think too much
Prefer to take a nap!

Baggage (I love that name.....as in 'you naughty baggage you!) It's a little bit bad, a little bit sexy.... I'm almost loathe to say 'I told you so.'
But, 'I told you so!!'
Love the poem, it made me laugh out loud...
Looking forward to many more now you've got the hang of it :D

Baggage, I'm sure I've met that woman! Market researcher in my case though! Brilliant!

All of you continue to produce great poetry, and interesting chat too, although Tanza has not popped by for a while, where is she? :o Thanks everyone! It is a delight to pop back and see new stories appearing too, not read any for ages, so I'd better get reading, or I will look like I am neglecting the place. :?

I am losing track of what I have and haven't posted, here is one I wrote a while ago, can you spot the catholic upbringing? Somewhat lapsed now

Healed

The answer to a prayer
You are.
You may become
The reason,
Soul heart’s ease.
Twin flames
To intertwine
And bind as only God
Can see in time.
To offer up a prayer
Of thanks
I bend the knee,
Head bowed.
I am not worthy,
But only say the word
And we shall be healed

Hospital Whispers.

The walls are saturated
With memories of the past
Feel the hairs of your neck rise
As the ghosts glide past

Swoop of skirt and
Shadows of face
Are imprinted upon
The bricks of this place

Stories of visions
Of those who have lingered
Are told by the nurses
Who've seen; and believed

That the rooms are empty
Of people who've gone;
But unexplained breezes
Convinced them they're wrong

In darkened rooms that at
Night staff won't go in
In case haunted whispers
Echo and begin.

What if...

Pixie dust was outlawed
And the mushroom circles tolled,
If garden gnomes were banished
And the fairies gardens sold.

If unicorns were bridled
And the hidden doorways barred,
If men like you could have your way
What else would you discard?

If banshees all were silenced
And the vampires laid on ice,
If the Werewolves claws were clipped down
Would you really pay the price?

If all the magics of our land,
Could truly be confined,
If all the mysteries were lost
I'll tell you all you'll find,

An empty place inside yourself
With nothing left to give
So just you think on something else,
And let the wild things live.

I have my eyes
Yet I don’t see
I do not know
If this is me
I dance upon
The stage at night
I dance for men
For their delight
My mother scolds
My father shouts
Their daughter
Is so full of doubts
They loved me once
Before I grew
They loved the child
That they once knew
But now they simply look away
They have no further words to say
Others look their eyes are wide
But I’ve lost their love
Their love has died.
