It was some time ago that I first saw the Shrine as I walked through Grimney Wood. Not knowing what it was,I entered the cave and explored, though not far, for fear of getting lost. I decided to return the following day equipped to delve deeper, so I marked my path, and went home.

When the morning came, I returned to the woods. I found my markers, but when I came to where the shrine was, all I found were trees. Trees that had been there for decades, possibly hundreds of years. And there was no evidence that they had been moved in any way.

I realised that this was no ordinary place, so went to Holme's Tavern to enquire of it. I also searched through my library for any reference.

Once I had identified it for certain as the Shrine of Branmere, I drew up a chart of it's reported appearances. I realised that it may not have been witnessed every time it manifested. Still, I thought, there must be a pattern, or else it must be controlled in some way. But to what purpose?

i - I don't believe it. It looks like the Shrine. I will not explore it yet. I have other duties to do. Maybe, when I get back, I'll take a look inside.

That took less time than I thought. They won't be expecting me at Hobsbane for a while. That will give me time to explore the Shrine, if I can find it again. After all, this might be my only chance.

That must be the hundredth time I passed that tree! I'm sure I kept to the path. I don't understand it at all.

It seems the shrine has moved on again, or maybe I just mislaid it.

I think I'll rest here. It's almost morning, and I've been walking all night.

Wayland, I think you should return to Hobsbane Waterfall and forget about the shrine. I can't explain properly but it is for the best. I can take you on the back of my kelpie if you wish.

Philomena! How did you find me?

Thank you, I would like you to take me back. I could do with a sleep on my own bed instead of this bank.

I got lost! That's the first time in many, many years.

I knew you were missing and the kelpie tracked your scent. He's a clever beast if a little lethal. Now you must stay at Hobsbane and rest, you are tired. Beware of the Shrine of Branmere.

Thank you. I have been reading up on the shrine, as you know, and it's become a kind of hobby of mine. I've seen it twice now, and that's more than most people.

I am sure there must be a way of tracking it, and of exploring it safely.

I promise you, I will be careful when I explore it the next time. I suppose I could use a rope of some kind if it was long enough, or perhaps I could work with a team of people. Yes, that's it. Someone could be on the outside to keep watch, and the others would stay within sight range of one another. That could work. That could really work.

5-4-3-2-1 - Ah, there it is. The Shrine, right where I knew it would be. Now, there is just one more thing...

... That's much better.

*enters Shrine. Shrine vanishes.*
