Did he? Yes, I see that he did. He's a rascal that one. Well, I've got some tough friends. I belong to the Vanguard of Scar, although I don't tend to involve myself much with them these days, as some of the members are pretty grim.

Thank you kindly, I could do with a drink, but won't take too much, a clear head is needed here. Who is this outlaw that could help you?

Perhaps when Kalvos is well enough you'll have to explain what's happening here and that the help of outlaws is needed.

The boy I brought in a week or so ago was a victim of Kursk. So he's not a man of idle threat. The villain hunted him down in Toraz and finished him off, so I've read.

Darius did mention Silas, he sounds like a character.

Yes Silas is a dear old friend of mine but a sailor through and through. I'm not sure Kalvos wil understand, he is very loyal to his work. And as for the outlaw himself, he might help a young mermaid in distress but not a member of the Queen's Elite. He is a friend of Urat's and a friend if mine but I am unsure it is wise to mention his name while there are strangers under our roof.

Kursk killed the boy in Toraz in his bed, I am not surprised. He tried to poison the knight in his bed. A cowardly act.

Well, you've got to try and think of solutions, as you appear to be running this tavern now, at least until Urat can get through the blockade.

Apart from summoning a storm and killing them all?i I can think of no plan. It is not just the knight's life at stake, we risk Bolte invading and war in the mire. I'm just a mermaid, I know nothing of running a tavern or protecting the mire.

Drowning them. That could prove unfortunate, as we don't know how many there are, and you could also kill a lot of innocent people.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kellerman Bolte was behind this. He hates the mire folk, and Gideon Drake.

You're doing a good job so far Philomena, strange that a mermaid far from the sea should be playing such an important part in our lives in the mire. But you've got a friend or two who will stick it out with you.

Whatever the price, I know Urat is very fond of you and Gwenllian and I'd be cursed by that jolly big man if I left you. And he's been a good friend to me.

No I will not kill unless I have to, my hands are clean of blood and I have seen what a terrible death drowning is. I do not wish it on my enemies unless they harm the ones I love. Death will just lead to more deaths, I do not want to start the blood flowing.

Bolte, yes his name has been mentioned. I do not like Gideon Drake much but he did stop his men from molesting us. Not that Kalvos behaves in such a way, he is a truly noble man. It is Kalvos I protect and not Drake, I will not fail to protect him as I gave my word. Perhaps he will listen to me about getting help from outlaws, I have saved him from death twice already it is time he trusted me.

Good back to bed Shayla and hide under your covers. I will raise a storm to drive back those two gangsters. I won't hurt them but will just blow them back to their camp.

Let the storms of Dudrassa blow hard against those who try to harm us. Let the thunder roar and the lightning blaze.

Make mine a double to quell the rage of the storm that burns through my veins. Pleased to see you downstairs, has Kalvos fallen asleep.
