Darl is the saviour of your people, he is the people of Kanara... by betraying him, you have betrayed them all. You're the worst kind of traitor, one who has committed treason against their family as well as their country.

Exile is not my wish... I think such traitors should be punished with the most severe of penalties decreed by law. However, if Darl cannot bear to have you killed then you need to be shut away somewhere you cannot cause mischief. A tiny island prison somewhere... not a dignified exile somewhere warm and interesting. If treason is not cut out entirely, its strangling roots grow.
*She kisses Darl on the cheek*

I am no traitor to my people. I would never do wrong by them. I am like my father before me, pure kanaran and loyal to the heart of that land.
*She stands and gazes at Darl and Philomena*.
I will grant her wish, I will do so for because of my love for the kanaran people. Send me into exile. I would rather be stripped of my place in the Kingdom rather than serve under the reign of a mermaid that I do not trust.
*She looks defiantly at Philomena*.
I still have the Thranmere name. My father's blood still runs through my veins. Were he alive he would never allow me to be treated this way.

*Niara looks across at the guards*.
I should be returned to my room and put under house arrest.

Return her to her room until transport can be sought....

Kanaran history has been written for centuries and I am well read. That is why I know your uncle must be ruthless to those who are not loyal to him.

A century ago, a Kanaran King would have murdered all his siblings, nieces and nephews on the birth on his first son... There is no place for sentimentality in Kanaran politics. At least in Grimney royal dynasties run for centuries, they do not plot against their family. You should have put aside your jealousy of your uncle's love for me and joined with him in rebuilding Kanara. You say your actions were through love of your people, but instead you were merely having a jealous tantrum that you are no longer the most important thing in his life.
*She runs her fingers through her hair and looks at her husband*
It would be safer if she stands trial here, if her ship were to sink I would be blamed for her death. Although no doubt she will spread enough poison and lies about your mermaid whore on her return to your land that it would be better if did drown... Her crimes were committed against me as well, perhaps she should be tried by Queen Eleanour and my family? If you are reluctant to make her face Kanaran justice, she can face Grimnian justice.

She might escape from her chamber, put her in the South tower as that is harder to abscond from. It has a bed and a chamber pot... but anything else that you might need from your room Niara, you may write to Derias Avalay to request. He is a shrewd man and loyal to your uncle, I expect he will be fair.
