*Kalvos draws his sword and grips Sylvie's hand more tightly. He watches the confrontation between the gorga and Janc. His eyes switching back and forth nervously. The trees begin to shake as more red eyed gorgas descend from the branches*.

*Janc steps back. His blade raised, green blood trickling down the hilt*.

*Not content with the slaughter two of the gorga pick up the scent of their prey and pursue Sylvie and Kalvos through the woods*.

*Kalvos lifts Sylvie upon his shoulders and continues to flee. The red moonlight flickers upon the surface of a lake and he charges headlong into the water. He wades deeper and deeper, until a current catches him, dragging him off his feet. Sylvie topples from his shoulders, Kalvos is weighted down by his armour and sword, and begins to flounder*.

*There is a silver flash of spears and Kalvos feels himself dragged through the water by strong arms.*
Get the child too!
*Kalvos is pulled to the bank of the lake.*
Well... Venn Kalvos, beloved of the Princess Philomena. What brings you to our lake? And why did you bring those harbingers of death to our waters.
*She looks across at the gorga corpes that float on the other side of the lake*
They will no longer cause you trouble. You have a storm maiden's blessing, and as such the waterkin are bound to protect you. The girl child that was with you, we had no obligation to save...
*The river maiden indicates to Sylvie's inert body that lies a few feet away from Kalvos. *
But we saved her life as a courtesy. If you wish we can throw her back in?
*She watches as the girl coughs up water from her lungs and smilee*
Although it would be a pity for the waters to take one so young and full of hope.
