Dorlich was once a thriving market town in the North of Grimney, but now it is nothing but a ruin. The inhabitants fled in fear, as two opposing armies faced each other over the flat lands. All that remains now are the dead who fought against each other and died in this great battle.

*A soldier pushes aside a body and crawls to his feet. He stands amidst the carnage and gazes out over the sea of bloodied corpses*.
*Hexan Thorne sighs and shakes his head. He reaches down and pulls his sword from the chest of a dead warrior. He wipes the blade and slides it back into its scabbard*.

*Alfreda wears the armband of a nurse. She walks towards the soldier, offers him water and shakes her head. She bends down to tend to a man gasping for his last breath. *
It's a bad business. Couldn't they have tried talking to one another first? This ain't what the Princess wants, she's never been one for bloodshed.

*Hexan takes the water and pours it over a gash in his neck*.
Thank you.
*He looks at the wounded man*.
Journey ends for him. I'll be on to the next battle... It's far from over.
*He gulps down the water and looks the woman up and down for weapons*.
You with the Princess? Carados and his men?

Not with either side, just here to mop up the mess. Someone has to. Never one for taking sides.
*She glances up*
I knew the poor princess though, once upon a time. Most beautiful creature you ever saw.
*Freddie shakes her head*
This ain't her war. It's her father's. Poor thing. I bet she will weep for every corpse on this battlefield, friend or foe. Well... they say Carados won this battle but you know everyone will lose in civil war. It ain't right.

Wise not taking a side... I fight for whoever pays the most, there's no enemy for me. I just pick up my fee when the jobs done.
*Hexan shakes his head and smiles grimly*.
War is good for business; a wretched one though it is...
*He frowns*
I wonder who I'll fight for next?
*He looks over the horizon and sees dust clouds rising in the distance*.
Riders.... Better get under cover. They could be hostiles, or the Scavengers.... They're the real winners in these dark times, stripping the dead of tobran and armour.... Be warned they don't leave witnesses....
*Hexan steps over the dead and finds a horse tethered to a bloodstained tree*.
Though your intentions are good ... You'd Best leave the wounded.... They won't survive....
*He cuts the tether and jumps on the horse and gallops away*.

You are right, I shall take cover.

Do you know the punishment for stripping the dead? A slower death than hanging, dark crow.
*The Wolf Witch glides through the shadows*
Never mind. The Duke of Zoltar has decided to show you his mercy in exchange for your services.
*She hands him a green leather bound journal*
You will give this to Princess Philomena, tell her that you found it on the body of a golden haired corpse. Tell her you return it as she is mentioned in it. It is imperative that any hopes she has of him living are crushed to dust.
