*Philomena freezes. She stares up into the man's face, pleading him with her beautiful eyes to ungag her . He hesitates and removes the gag but keeps the knife to her throat. *

*Hood reaches into his dusty tunic and slides out a silver flask and unscrews the lid. He slides his sword into his belt, and pulls out a curved dagger. The masked man kneels before the woman. His dark eyes narrow as he studies the mermaid's face closely. The Hood leans forward and places the tip of the dagger against Philomena's side as he slowly pours the water into her mouth*.

*Hood nods, stands up sharply and screws the lid back upon the flask, his eyes flicker with brief amusement but then narrow and harden again. He places the flask back into his tunic pocket and steps away from Philomena. He watches her carefully, before sliding his dagger back into his belt. He slides off a black leather gauntlet and cracks his knuckles one at a time, excluding one finger on which there is a silver and black ring with the initials A D*.

*His voice is deep and gravelly, muffled by the material concealing his mouth*.
