I hope you will make an effort with him. You tolerate Vortigern for my sake, why not my father? He is coming later so you can ask him for his blessing. It would be a good gesture.
What do you think of my new dress?
*Philomena show off a dress made from sheer, flesh coloured silk scattered with pearls and diamonds. It is skin tight and gives the appearance of her being naked except for a few splashs of strategically placed jewels on her gorgeous curves.*
I did try to wear more human clothes but they are so heavy and constricting.

I have good news! You will never believe who I visited with last evening. I must add he was quite intoxicated and sentimental. I don't believe I have ever witnessed such laughter come from him. I must add, he has lofty goals in his drunkenness. He mentioned living on a cliff. Ha Imagine that!
*Esper looked at Philomena and saw the impatient query.
Carados! He was rambling about you and Kalvos and how love should not be divided. I am not sure what the cliff analogy had to do with you two, but I am confident that he is warming up to the idea of a suitor with unroyal blood. He is planning to make his decision tonight based on the demeanor of Kalvos!
*Esper noticed Kalvos looking quite ill. Philomena grabbed a drink and mixed it with a purple fluid that made it smoke. She consoled him as she handed him the potion.
What? Is it something I said?

I doubt my father and him will ever get on. He won't drink that potion, he doesn't trust magic and hates it when I take sleeping potions. Humans are stubborn.

I am not sure what the medicine is. But I do feel unwell. I think it is the mention of Carados. He murdered that man in cold blood.
*He looks at Philomena in her skin tight dress*.
You do look beautiful angel, truly stunning.....
*He sighs*.
But it is hard for me to accept Carados's actions. He cut that man's throat. That was wrong. We all know that was wrong.

You have fought side by side with knights who have done similar things. I know his actions were wrong but imagine if it had been our daughter that the kidnappers had taken, her life in danger...
*She puts her arms around him and pushes her body close to his.*
Think how much easier it will be if my father gives his approval... His actions may have been wrong but that doesn't mean there is not some good in him. He spent so many years deprived of his wife and daughter, no wonder his heart has grown hard. He has suffered.
I am glad you like my dress, are you sure you are happy with me dressing in mermaid clothes rather than human clothes.

Carados is a bad influence. He's already caused the arrests of Sir Robert and Absolem Darke. His return is not something I welcome. And I certainly don't welcome him as a father in law, how can I? Esper is wise, I'm sure she would agree.
*He sighs*.
What good will he do Karina? It would have been best for all if he had never returned from Vorgania. You resented the idea that Trylax could be my father, so you cannot be opposed to my point of view in regards to him.
*He steps back*.
We should sleep. I need to sleep. I hope that you will lie beside me and stand beside me always, but Carados brings violence and revolution, and the longer he stays, the more likely we will be drawn in. We don't want that angel. Do we?
*He kisses Philomena a second time and strokes her face gently*.
I love you angel, but Carados is the real threat to our happiness. He'll bring destruction down upon us, that's all I believe he will do...
*He smiles sadly and heads up the staircase to bed*.

Of course I stand by you... But think of this. Sir Robert Pearl is loyal to the Queen that cannot be disputed. He was arrested because the High Council believed he would join forces with my father. To me that says that Carados fights on the side of good and the High Council are the ones committing treason against the Queen. It is linked to the list, I am sure it is...
*She looks confused.*
If you don't welcome him as a father-in-law then am I to remain as your mistress? The night before last you asked me to marry you.

So who was Darke supporting? Your father? Darke was a member of the High Council, almost at its head, Sir Robert told me... Yet he was arrested too... You don't want a war angel, I have promised not to fight in any more battles, the more you support and encourage Carados the more we will be drawn into the bloodshed.
*He reaches his hand out to Philomena*.
You can understand your human half through Karina and I. What can you possibly learn from Carados? You've seen enough of his humanity, and it is ugly and twisted.
*He smiles*.
