*Footsteps approached the door. Everyone braced for attack. The door swung open to multiple knights. In the center, Carados.

Kalvos!

*Carados split the room and walked straight to Kalvos and slammed his hand down on the counter.

It is time we met. You have a lot to explain after we plan the rescue of my Princess.

*She raises her sword*

I shall cleave the scoundrel's head from their shoulders when I find them. We shall dance in their blood! Surely we don't need this disgraced knight.

*She spits on the floor in front of Kalvos*

We don't need help from traitors.

Abigail, the time for swords is not at present. A regiment is forming to attack the Foxhole Shack in the South Swamp. My men have reported a carriage leaving that area. The driver was fearful and of no use.

*Carados shook his head as he looked at the fresh blood on his cloak.

Kalvos, will you ride with us or will you stay behind, again?

*She bows and sheaths her sword.*

As you wish, Your Grace.

*Her eyes narrow as she looks at Kalvos*

Anyone who would harm the Royal Family is our enemy but if Carados says we shall ride together, then I willl.

*Carados rises without a word and exits the tavern surrounded by his men. Kalvos earned a tiny shred of respect from Carados by his actions but not enough to replace his unroyal blood. The warriors ride into the dark unafraid of what Grimney has in store for them and ready to fight for Princess Philomena.

Your Grace, if I may speak?

*She curtsies respectfully*

Kalvos... The dragon will get you there in a matter of minutes. Would it not be best to fly?

*He stands at the door of the tavern and watches the soldiers riding away*.

No dragons. The creature has an instinct for destruction, inherited from it's mistress no doubt, and I have no wish to see anyone else burned.

*Kalvos turns to the others and smiles wearily*.

I cannot stop you from following, but I would prefer you all to stay here away from the danger. Esper. We may have need of your magic, I'm hoping that you and I might find a way for us to resolve this situation without bloodshed.

*He smiles at Arabella and the fairy*.

I'll bring her back safely. That I promise. If not I will perish in the attempt. For life without Philomena would have no meaning....

*He bows his head, exits the tavern and climbs upon his horse and gallops after Carados and his soldiers*.

*Arabella looks relieved that Kalvos does not want her to follow. She gets on her knees and prays for the safe return of her mistress.*
