You got me Willow...I totally burp like a hippybottomarse! Do they burp? Well...no matter. Better out than in...unless you're in a very small enclosed space. Oh what the hell!!! Do it anyway! Did you know that, if you can smell something, you are actually inhaling spores from the source of the odour and, basically, eating it? My son told me that the other day. How cool is that?! He's convinced he's gradually eating himself alive by constantly sniffing his own armpits.

My family ... I just don't get it. I'm so well-balanced. They must get it from their dad.

I find it impossible to refuse a request from someone called TheEyeOfChaos, to do so would by foolish; especially if you were looking my way!!

Kindness

I don't want to kill you with kindness
I'd rather use poison instead
Or a gun or a knife would be almost as nice
Just as long as you ended up dead!

No, I don't want to kill you with kindness,
But I might use an axe in your head,
Just as long as it's painful and lasting,
Just as long as it's fatal and red.

So beware when you next see me smiling,
Don't believe that you're safe in your bed
It's a trick of the light
You won't run, you can't fight
In the morning my love, you'll be dead!

Several very clever and amusing poems on here! Very much to my taste. I think Marriot Edgar would be impressed, I know I am. ;)

Me again, once I start I just can't stop......
I used to see this statue in a park when I was little and it made me sad that he was stone, and no-one cared. When I was a lot older, and heard about the multiple universes theory I was really pleased by the thought that somewhere, somehow, he wasn't just stone.

Unicorn

He stood, a monument to chastity and honour
A memory of a hope entombed in stone.
Grey and old, defaced by birds and man and time he stood,
A throwback to a different time,
Around which school children ate their lunches and
Drunks belched away their afternoons and
No one ever looked to see what it was that shaded them.
Days came and went; then months, then years;
And still no one looked, no one wept to witness the humbling of their unicorn.
Just a place to steal a kiss, or more; on a dark summers night.
Always and forever.
Forgiving, almost forgotten but never forgetting.
Dance my unicorn, dance yourself another universe on concrete hooves.

This was a piece I wrote for an OU course earlier this year. I have never "published" anything before & hope to put more of my work on here. I would love any feedback.
This was writtern using someone elses memoirs from the 1930's:

Quinton

This used to be a village, a place of quiet and peace,
Where children could run and play without a care
Imagination our only limit,
It’s altered now; I would hardly know the place where I grew up,
The old familiar names are still here,
The Royal Oak still stands, but it’s called an Ember inn
And serves quite fancy food
The only animals are cats & dogs, no more cows or sheep,
All the fields have gone, no more potatoes, just a golf course,
Leisure is the aim, with cricket and bowls, no peas or fruit grow here,
The gypsies dare not come, for fear of being moved on,
Travellers they are now, and are looked down upon by normal folk
Who used to make them welcome,
I long now for my childhood, for a Quinton that has long gone,
To be replaced by a suburb of Brum.

Andie99uk welcome. You write very good prose. Thoughtful and reflective. Do add more of your work, we would be delighted. Judging from the way you write, we do think you should consider writing stories too.

Over the last month or so we have gained Sushi, Nydas, Baggage and Elvira. All are contributing entertaining, thoughtful and quality work. Must not forget Tanza who had brought the forums back to life. It is good news for Grimnian, as he can have a rest, this he is pleased about.

So, yes, do add! Set up your own forum, join the stories section if you like. The Land of Grimney is meant to inspire and we hope to expand the community and benefit all.

A time

If redemption is in the hands of god
Then I pray that we will find
Some small symbol of our lives salvation
in the world we leave behind

When the heart stops beating, cold and still
your life will still go on
in the hearts and minds of all you've touched
memories will linger on
And only when those memories die
will your life be over and gone

So go through life with a smile in your heart
and enjoy it for all that its worth
for the time we have is precious and short
on this, our beautiful Earth
