The Land of Grimney - The Illustrated Adventures of Cora Pearl, aged 12

A rampaging ogre was pounding the town,
Smashing up to houses and beating them down.

The villagers ran and screamed as they fled,
"Please someone help us before we are dead!"

Out of a shop walked a very small man,
Stan Schlepenschmutz with an old frying pan.

The ogre was lumbering and looming near,
But Stan stood his ground like a man without fear.

"Stop!" shouted Stan in a tone most sincere,
And the words shot up to the ogre's ear.

The ogre looked down and gave a huge laugh,
'Out of my way or I'll cut you in half!'

"Leave here right now or I'll cause you great pain,"
Said Stan to the ogre. "Is that quite plain?"

'You are balmy, without any brain,
You are just crazy, mad, and insane.'

"Ah ha!" exclaimed Stan, "Now that's going too far,"
"Prepare to be hauled up in front of the bar!"

"Malicious damage and slander to boot,
I'll slap you down with a first-class law suit."

The ogre stood silent, dazed, and stunned,
For more than ogres were lawyers shunned.

Slowly he turned and shuffled away,
'Sorry,' he said. 'But I cannot stay.'

"Don't think you can hide
We'll search far and wide!"

"You'll do more than snort,
When you are in court!"

That's why to this day the ogres are gone,
But more's the pity the lawyers live on.
