Grimney is changing daily and as Bolte continues to put pressure on us non humans I can help feeling I see his grip weaken. The water folk are getting resentful, even the fairies. I have no time for war and rebellion myself, mermaids are made for love and beauty not bloodshed.

Don1's song was very fine, a joy in fact. A glass of wine certainly, Mermaid's Corner possibly... The toast is daring, I admire that. Gwenllian, Philomena and Hoggy, a fine trio you make. Much courage between you. Dark times indeed.

Between you and me the problem isn't just Bolt, it goes higher than that... Grimwood Scribes, the Overlord, he's the one with the policy to wipe out other races, he hates the water folk, but not just them... You don't want to see what they are teaching in the schools these days. Hard to believe....

Bolt's been stepping up his actions so I've heard. Burning villages, carting off ogres into slavery and worse. His grip may weaken, but if it does they'll be more spies out and about to find those that secretly oppose him, one word in the wrong place and you could find yourself facing arrest. That'd please them....

Troubling times... I take care with my opinions, I've got a lot at stake, but between you and me, I don't like what's going on out there beyond the mire. Can't stop it though, I'm just a tavern keeper, and I retired from soldiering long ago....

Has Vance Scarab left already? I wanted to ask if he had done the drawing but it was too crowded before. If you see him, please warn him not to come to the lake at the moment. I have seen Bolte's men patrolling it more frequently than usual. I know the terrible crimes that he is accused of, but I do not want to see him caught.
