Max’s phone was ringing, making the noise of staccato machine gun fire bursts. He was particularly fond of machine guns as they rewarded an exacting maintenance schedule, and when taken apart, resulted in a pleasing amount of components, and what they lacked in accuracy they more than made up for in sheer fun. However, they weren’t really subtle enough for everyday use as they were neither easy to conceal nor quiet, so he satisfied his itch with the ringtone. When on silent, the mobile announced an incoming call with the whisper of a bullet fired from a .22 calibre Ruger fitted with a Mark 3 silencer, which was all but inaudible to the untrained ear.
