FOOTPRINTS
They step upon the sunken mounds
Why not? It's just a path to follow
Across the rows of countless folk
Decended in their own dark hollow
I used to do the same as them
Skip over graves without a care
No warning of the burning pain
Of loss that grows too hard to bear
Their footprints sting upon my heart
I want to scream I want to shout
Get off my smashed and broken hopes
Respect my children...leave, get out
But they don't know the hurt they cause
How could they feel the same as me
It's just another walk across
A battered graveyard by the sea
How could they see the scenes I made
Not once, but thrice, as tears did stream
As final journeys came too soon
And nightmares swallowed every dream
