LET THIS BE THE NIGHT

I hope I fall asleep tonight
Relaxed and still with eyes shut tight
No whirling thoughts inside my head
That start as I climb into bed

I love to think...don't get me wrong
But all this turmoil lasts too long
I've got to clear my busy mind
And leave the madness well behind

I need to shut down every part
My body, mind, my soul, my heart
But still I cannot work out how
I know it sounds so easy now

The daily chores all done so well
So no-one knows...it's hard to tell
That every time I need to weep
I wont...it's buried far too deep

So if you think I'm brave and strong
You really couldn't be more wrong
And though your heart is free from need
I'd gladly leave my own to bleed

My on and on relentless pain
Is numbed by feeling quite insane
The cloudy judgement seems okay
And no-one bothers anyway

If there were only days to bear
I wouldn't have a single care
But night creeps in to grip my brain
And send me into to Hell again

I couldn't tell you what I think
I'm up and down to get a drink
And then of course I'm in the loo
I'm bored with nothing else to do

I'm tired enough to fall and die
So there's no single reason why
My pillow can't feel soft and warm
Instead of harbouring the storm

I guess I'll have to wait and see
How love and life pans out for me
And maybe then I'll find release
To dream and wander in my peace

No longer will I hear my worries
Haunting me while morning hurries
No longer will I twist and turn
While in my head my voices burn

So let this be the night it starts
When all this mangled mush departs
Because I cannot rest until
My mind can slumber quiet and still

Thankfully, this doesn't relate to me anymore...but, if it at least helps one person to realize they're not alone, I figured it's worth posting.

I'm sure it will help, funny how many people are in the world but most feel so alone.

Or do you think we've lost the art of listening to each other and worry to much about ourselves rather than others.

I think that maybe we've become used to to living life in sound bytes, very superficial, if you start to talk about feelings people shy away and change the subject, so this place allows us to let out what we really feel.
Thank you Tanza you poem certainly hit a note with me !

I think when we are happy to be who we are...we start realizing that those who don't appreciate us, don't matter. If you are what people say you are, maybe that's okay. Maybe you are meant to be you, but are spending too much time with people who don't 'get' you. The world is big. Getting out there and finding people who 'get' you, is the key. I still get called mad, insane and mental, but...so what?..I'm happy...and people tend to leave you alone if you mutter intensely to yourself in shops...it works for me anyway.

Maybe, it's THEM who need to get out there and find someone else that they DO appreciate, instead of constantly whining on about you and your life. But, then, they might be in danger of finding someone they consider better than themselves, who might look down on THEM. Hmmm...it's quite obvious sometimes that certain people need certain people in their lives to make them feel better about themselves. In the end, they lose out.

I think, maybe, the people with the most problems to share...don't. They keep it all to themselves and think they'll be considered selfish and be accused of trying to get sympathy. But, yeah, some people can't deal with it. A lot of people tell me their problems and it's no good telling them to get a grip etc. You can't make other people's problems go away, you can only listen and nod. It's surprising how much that helps!...and, of course, a cuddle.
