I think when we are happy to be who we are...we start realizing that those who don't appreciate us, don't matter. If you are what people say you are, maybe that's okay. Maybe you are meant to be you, but are spending too much time with people who don't 'get' you. The world is big. Getting out there and finding people who 'get' you, is the key. I still get called mad, insane and mental, but...so what?..I'm happy...and people tend to leave you alone if you mutter intensely to yourself in shops...it works for me anyway.
Maybe, it's THEM who need to get out there and find someone else that they DO appreciate, instead of constantly whining on about you and your life. But, then, they might be in danger of finding someone they consider better than themselves, who might look down on THEM. Hmmm...it's quite obvious sometimes that certain people need certain people in their lives to make them feel better about themselves. In the end, they lose out.
I think, maybe, the people with the most problems to share...don't. They keep it all to themselves and think they'll be considered selfish and be accused of trying to get sympathy. But, yeah, some people can't deal with it. A lot of people tell me their problems and it's no good telling them to get a grip etc. You can't make other people's problems go away, you can only listen and nod. It's surprising how much that helps!...and, of course, a cuddle.
