The Bugwug

I had a guide upon my shoulder
The wisest bird that was much older
Than all the years that measure time
And he spoke in riddle and in rhyme
‘Dear Cora the land is full of danger
Especially when you are a stranger
Walk wisely and do not lose sight
Of creatures with an appetite
For they’ll eat you if they are able
And serve you at their dinner table’…
I listened closely to each word
He was indeed the brightest bird
Each step I took was placed with care
So do walk with me if you dare…
