Pointless Prose
What is the point of poetry I cannot see the point myself
It will not make you rich it is not good for your health
It is not a sport it is not taught in schools*
Only idiots write it that’s dreamers and fools
It is all meaningless words and flowery speech
About the birds and the buttercups so what does it teach?
Nobody knows as no ones quite sure
What the words of the poet really are for
Most are content to watch football instead
And forget the poor poet until he is dead
But maybe one day they will pick up his book
And take a long lingering curious look
Then they will gladly put it back on the shelf
After all what is poetry it is not good for your health…
