Being here in Grimney and seeing all the wonderful work that is being shared and especially Elvira's blog (very cool!) has inspired me to start my own blog. My website is now up and running, having been finished and finally moved away from the clutches of myspace, and I am going to experiment with the wonders of blogdom. If you have a minute to check it out every now and then that'd be great. Maybe stop a while and listen to a song or two. Lyrics is what I write most of and it's been lovely to share some of my other witterings on here. I am not deserting Grimney though, Thor forbid! This place is very inspiring!

Fantastic! This is exactly how we would like the forums to be used. Yes, chatting is great, and adding thoughts, poems etc, but one of the main aims of Grimney is to share creativity. I have spent time on Elvira's blog, and shall endeavour to explore your blog too Nydas, and send others along when I can.

Many thanks WordWizard, I salute you!

I worked out how to add a link to this site from my website, so I am also learning how to do geeky activities.

I think I need a lie down it's all becoming too much! Who knows perhaps I'll be tweeting soon!?!?

Love your website ... I've been leaving some of the songs playing on my lappy here. I'm playing one right NOW!

There are some really lovely people here. I'm blessed! We all are.

Elvira, I've been on yours too. I'm the nosiest person EVER! I love it all. So many people just sit and think. Letting it all out for other people to enjoy and ponder takes it to a whole new level.

Inner thoughts and feelings spread out for all to see. What better way to let all the stress and pressure of life OUT! I'm always being told by people that they don't want to share poetry or stories because they'll feel silly. They worry that people will accuse them of showing off. Why not show off if you want?

I was called a show-off by by someone once. I haven't seen them since...nobody has....oops!! :->

Tanza - you're a wonder! (and I wonder if you buried them in the garden??)

Words will out, if I don't write them down I get a little dribbly in the head department. Life's too short to ponder shall I, shall I not, will anyone like what I do, what will they think of me (my best friend taught me that!) We all of us have a thing that we love to do, some have lots of things, some of us haven't found out what that thing is yet. Regardless, words and music are the things that I love to do.

Terry Pratchett says there is a basic element called Narrativium that exists in the world, it is the elemental substance of Story, and I believe him. Places like Grimney let us all be part of a story, add to it, give it life, share it, and meet like minded individuals to live it with.(I was going to say people but I'm not certain that covers all that visit here!)

So, I advocate more of everything!!!! :D

Word moulding and music weaving have kept me sane for years (there are many who would dispute sane but what do they know!) and those words and sounds stayed tucked away for years and years. The bravery that leads to public expression should not be underestimated in my humble (yeah right!) opinion. Head dribbles are best avoided I think!
Give me the piano and a pen anyday!
Yeah baby!

Feel much better after writing this, although it isn't fantasy and I usually write short stories thought I'd share. What the hell, eh? Late night maudlin and all that.

Goodbye Grandad

He watches her now from way back THEN

And this is what I see,

The physical strength of “At least 2 men”

And the drinking strength of 3.

All she hears is the booming voice

No matter what he says

All she sees is a lack of choice

And abiding by his ways.

Her Dad is small, but quick and smart,

While Grandad’s loud and wide.

She doesn’t care for muscle and blood,

Or anything that’s inside.

I try to make her like him though,

I know he is no good.

He tells her she’s a naughty girl,

And he tempts her back with food.

But how can I protect her when,

I’m back there scared, in bed.

With Mum close by, Dad drunk at the door

With the strength of “At least 2 men”

But he is her “Big Grandad” now,

He brings treats for her to eat.

And when she knows she’s eaten her fill

She no longer sits at his feet.

How long can it last, this fakery,

With her Daddy determined to fight?

Grandad could bring her a bakery,

But I can feel the end in sight.

I’m sorry, I can’t stand idly by

I won’t be my Mother again,

If Grandad must go, then I’ve got to try,

To have the mental strength of 10!

Welcome SharonH. Another talented lady arrives. I must say Grimney is certainly rising to its big strong gold plated feet at last! Must get to bed now... :)

Great Poem SharonH, glad you shared it, thanks!

Incidentally I've been called baggage many times in my life I rather like the word, take it as a compliment even if it isn't meant that way!
