Yes, yes....
*He pats Avalay upon the back and mutters*.
The Princess will need me more than ever now....I never wished this tragedy...
*He looks over at Philomena*.
I never wished Kalvos such a fate.... *He looks down at Dryce with pity in his eyes*.
Yes.... See that the Scavengers are sent on their way with bread and grain... Give them whatever they need for their village.....
*He sighs*.
I'm not a monster....
*He steps forward and helps Dryce to his feet. Darl stares at the man's lacerated face*.
You'll need that stitched.
*He gazes across at Avalay*.
Take him to my surgeon, have him clean the wound.... *Darl pats Dryce upon the shoulder*.
You'll be fine my friend. I've suffered worse.

*Dryce places his grubby hand over his bleeding face to stifle the flow*.
Thank you my Lord......
*He says grudgingly, he looks across at the mermaid*.
Your humanity shines through....
*He limps out of the Great Hall with two guards flanking him on either side*.

*She looks across at Slygar*
Humanity.... humanity slashes and kills. Humanity brings war. If I could open my veins and drain every drip of human blood I would not care about paying the final price.
*She looks at Darl*
I blame you for this war. I blame you for his death.
*Philomena recollects herself*
But I thank you for the mercy you have shown.

*Darl glares at the Princess*.
Humanity kills humanity, we are all its victims, but it was your ocean that drowned my armies, and opened the way to invasion.
*He shakes his head and slumps into a chair, he picks up a silver goblet and attempts to drink from it, but it is empty*. Cursed.
*He throws the goblet across the room, and stares at Avalay*.
Bring wine. I need to be drunk.
*He looks once again at Philomena*.
Blame me? Blame your father... War brings change and change is good. Kalvos died the death of a soldier, that is what soldiers do, they die....
*He looks across at Avalay a second time*.
Avalay bring that wine....

*Philomena gets to the wine before Avalay*
Allow me, Master Avalay. You are not a waiter. My father sold me to your master like a slave and as I am a slave, I might as well be his cupbearer as well as his whore.
*She pours Darl's wine and meets his glare*
It was the barbarian hordes of Kanara that were the agressor. Your ships were sunk went when you tried to invade this land in the first place. Your King was told the Dudrassa was not open to cross and yet he sent you. It was his own damn fault that your land was left defenceless. Yet again you invaded. You brought war to this land. So drink... drink away all the death and misery to have brought to this land... and to me.

Your Grace... I am happy to pour wine, even an adviser serves a king.
*He takes the wine from Philomena and refills Darl's glass.*
A slave? That is the madness of grief that speaks. Surely you know that Lord Thranmere loves you as his wife and Princess. You are not a slave or whore, but his most precious jewel.
*Avalay smiles nervously*
The stability of the Kingdom rests on your loving marriage. Please Your Grace... you must learn to love your husband, we must have unity to win this war.

*Philomena ignores Avalay and turns to Darl.*
I request permission to retire to my room and grieve in peace. Will you allow that? Or must I stay with you and play the dutiful wife until you get drunk and abusive?
*She sighs and glances at Avalay. *
Wars are never won by self pitying drunks. When the High Council capture me they will take my head and I shall be reunited with Kalvos in the eternal seas.
*Philomena sweeps out of the room regally*

*The table in the Great Hall is heavily laden with food. Darl Thranmere eats without speaking, his wife Philomena sits unhappily on his knee and ignores the food in front of her. Darl's arm is tightly round her waist and he occasionally pauses from his meal to kiss her neck.
The servants scurry around, offering the Princess every delicacy but she declines them all. She fiddles with the cuffs of her new gown and sighs. *

*Darl strokes Philomena's neck and sticks his knife into a chicken breast. He lifts it to his mouth and bites into the flesh, fatty juice drips down upon his beard*.

When will your men be ready to escort me to my father's castle? If you cannot spare them I am sure my father will happily send his own men.
*She looks down at her feet*
You have had me by your side for days, and not given me a single moment of solitude... Surely it is better for me to visit my father before you grow bored of me. You promised if I cooperated more that I could visit my father. I miss my family.
