The Land of Grimney - The Illustrated Adventures of Cora Pearl, aged 12

Oh, how lovely it is to be here with all of you. I haven't had time to meet everybody. Wayland has been kind enough to visit. I hope he enjoyed my hospitality.

Now then, it seems there has been some confusion about certain gathering boys ending up at my humble abode. Well, I call it humble. It is actually very much alive with happiness and positively bursting with opulence. Not only do I run the best boarding house in and around Grimney, I am very well known for my wonderful sense of humour and eagerness to help anybody who needs assistance. Please do come and visit the gathering boy who chose to come and live here with me Elvira. He lives a very happy and structured life here with me. I've always believed young boys and girls need good and decent mothering until they are quite old. You probably didn't realise how improperly you were treating him. It's not your fault dear and I have spent many long years becoming the lovely and jolly person I am today. I really don't blame you one little bit. You will learn. Just come and see how much happier your boy is here.

Tanza? How is your mother dear? I heard she was quite ill. I heard she was bordering on insanity. I also heard your father was in town a few nights ago. Such a shame you turned out the way you did. How about we get together for a little girly chat one day next week? I'd love to catch up with all the gossip and I know you really do have lots to share.

Nydas, Nydas - you are as lovely as ever. Such a sweet voice and so gracious in your wisdom. I hope the gathering boy episode didn't change your opinion of me too much. Maybe the company you keep is starting to encourage you rather too easily into the darkness we all try our best to retreat from.

As I have often said, rudeness and nastiness are not good ways to resolve a situation. Nor is eating people who don't like you. I think everyone should try to be more like me. Everybody likes me and everybody respects me and there isn't a single person who wouldn't want to actually be me - not being bigheaded or anything.

Oh Hogsy!! You naughty little boy, eating your friend. I remember when you were just a tiny little ogret. Such a sweetheart. Come over sometime for a big booby cuddle like you used to. You always did like to nestle into my bosems as I laughed at your jokes. Oh I miss those days.

Well hello young Wayland!! Dear Wayland, you may take what you want from my crops. Such a dear boy, asking to tend my garden for me.
