Grateful for the small crumbs which the government throws my way,
even though I've contributed with hard skin and graft for 25 years of my precious life.
JSA, Housing and council tax benefit shows up on my account every two weeks, the benefit statement which arrives in my post box looks nothing like it when you look at the envelope, she jokes!
So if you want to keep it a secret you have to get up early and retrieve it from the Postie before the nosey neighbours come snooping.
Sleepless nights, heartache and forehead creases are the name of the benefit game, botox will be the name when I start to work again!
Who says being on the dole is easy?!
Car parking fees at the job centre or council office, no way José! as I stagger on with sore feet and empty pockets.
Whilst being great friends with the librarian, I send my CV to so many agencies and job sites that my chinese name, 苏珊妮 is sticking in every recipient's head as a desperada!

Gainfully Employed
Glad to have dragged herself back to the capitalist society
Botox having released the benefit-driven wrinkles
Reminiscing now of her leisure days
The acoustic rhythm of the woodpeckers drilling the trees
Picnics in the park, bbqs at friends, tanning on the beach
Boules & crazy golf, Wow, is this really the UK sun?
A blackbird eyeing me up as I bathe on the sundrenched lawn
Pecking at the grass for grubs creating feather-like moss
It then canters home to its babes with chess-like moves
Now I really must canter back to work, before I get thrown on the dole again!
