I fear you-
The power of your presence,
The draw of anticipation
Of the need, the greed
For a draught of your essence-
The draught which never
Fills my glass-
The breath
Which never fills my lungs.
There is always that
Thirst never quite quenched-
The gasping for more.
There is always the question
Never quite answered-
Hanging in doubt.
And the lust for love lingers-
An addiction drawing down
The strength of the self
To be strengthened
As one in a new essence.
A sum of the parts
Anchored by the roots of
A love, grasped, held-
Yet feared.
