Bad Memories Always flowing away behind me Twisting and turning as they leave Pulling gently at my pain and grief Taking everything I wanted to believe Leaving only echos of the the past Giving future dreams a place to start As new refreshing hopes take hold Setting free my tired and heavy heart Always flowing away behind me Tugging as I go to turn around Urging me to give another glance At happiness laid shattered on the ground Only careful onward steps are taken now And in a world I know there is no easy ride Mistakes and heartbreaks all can be avoided As I learn from every spur that's kicked my side Always flowing away behind me Ever hanging on to bring me down Everything is clearer now I see you Even though you never make a sound Clinging like a shadow, cold and dark As warm, inviting sun shines on my face Bad memories, I beg you stray behind me As wisdom, love and laughter take your place |
