I always get back up
when I've been knocked down
put on a smile
banish the frown

she's a strong woman
I hear them say
she'll bounce back
she won't give way

tell me your troubles
I'll mop up your tears
I will cry silently
so nobody hears

My shoulders are broad
my patience unending
pile it all on my back
you won't see me bending

but sometimes oh sometimes
deep in my soul
I want to just slip
into that silent black hole

Oh dear...I'm guessing nine volts running through your body, from tongue to toe, didn't do the trick? Lovely poem.

It's always unsettling to see people write with sadness in their hearts, but I wonder if we would realize just how much they are hurting or suffering if they couldn't convey it in their poetry. It's so easy to see people busying themselves with a complicated schedule or succeeding in their lives...and assume they are perfectly happy, but we forget that...sometimes...

...sometimes we can all fall very quickly, and quite deeply, into despair. One brief moment to ourselves, with nothing to do and we can just drop our smiles and sink into our worries and bad memories.

I don't know what the answer is. I can only say how much I, personally, appreciate you as a real person...not just in Grimney, but in my life as a whole. I've never met you, but when I think of the people who make me smile, you are definitely one of them. I know it's a rather flimsy way to judge the people in my life...but it works for me...and I'm happier for it.

Whatever drags you down each time, remember that somewhere in this world, there are people who really do understand you and would miss you if you disappeared. Even if some of us only connect briefly every now and again, we do care...a lot.
