At the risk of sounding rather depressing, I wanted to post this poem. I hope it helps others to realize they're not alone. Sadness never was my thing (is it anyone's?) and I'm glad I've left it behind, but...sometimes certain things just make us crumble for a while...things we cannot change or control eat into our strength. Yes, yes, I know...they're supposed to make us stronger, but...mostly, they make me melt with despair. Urrghh...now that IS depressing isn't it?

WAITING TO FORGET

Eyes look beyond the world to a long lost past
Staring from a face drained of warm memories
Endlessly looking for answers, but asking nothing
As muted lips fight to relay a forgotten lifetime
Between half-heard mutters
And faint murmurs of lucidity

Personality folds and unfolds in shallow waves
Submissively riding the ebbing tide away from shore
Slowly drowning in confusion and indifference
As years are washed away with silent tears
That fall without crying
And dry without wiping

Character fades in the light of countless days
As all that was ever known and loved slips away
The most vibrant of colours, now thin and greyed
Could surely never have caused joy or turned heads
True stories translate to fiction
And fiction is all that remains

Into the familiar image that dies slowly before me
Merge many others to painfully swell my heart
Harshly reminding of similarities and quirky traits
Enticing me into the inevitable depths of my fate
As I wait my turn to become her
As I wait my turn to forget

Thank you Meadow. Yeah...poetry is a good outlet for a lot of feelings. That...and a good shout at random people in the street. Not getting arrested is the highlight of my day...or is that...getting arrested? Oh can't remember which. Doesn't matter now...or does it?

You do make me laugh Tanza. Don't do it too much, I tend to fall in love very easily with people who make me laugh!
