Post subject:  James Device

Being from the Red Rose land
In the lee of Pendle Hill,
To cunning work I turned my hand
And cast back charms of hurt and ill.
But the church could not leave me be
And said my work was a Devil lie.
Tomorrow they will set me free
On the gallows hill where I'll hang high.

This poem is 5 minutes old. I'll work on it some more.

Well, it's a few days later, and no new lines have come to me, so it will have to stay as it is. James Device (aka Devis aka Davies) was a teenager, hanged with his younger sister, mother and six other people, after the infamous witch trials at Lancaster in 1612).

Really like it even if it is incomplete...

Yes. Do keep working on this. I think it is interesting. A history poem. Let's see some more maybe!

Thank you. The poem as it stands came to me in a flash as I was researching the trials, but yes, I'll give it some more thought and see if I can find some more lines.
