I awake in darkness and silence. The velvet of night still caresses the earth. Then the horizon sky is rent by a scarlet slash Day will not be denied. Velvet turns to silver, smoke and ash - the clouds of Autumn The birds of summer have long since fled. The chorus is stilled. Then comes the sound of mighty wings And the call of the Wild Goose A flight in formation soars overhead Majestic and graceful, seeking their lakeside home Over the tree tops they go And all is still once more. |
