The Land of Grimney - The Illustrated Adventures of Cora Pearl, aged 12

All my life I felt you there,
never doubting Thomas, I
was steadfast, sure,
unshakeable.
A true disciple born and bred
with weekly manna
faith was fed.
But now the void has opened up
and swallowed down
the healing cup.
The nurtured soul
now left untethered
flounders when the
life, that’s weathered,
searches for a meaning,
vain,
to make sense of the world again.
What occurred to change the view
is hard to put a finger to.
Just over time
when life was hard
the healing well
dried up,
was tarred
by pride and vanity
in those, so sent
to shepherd us
toward redemption,
instead, they caused
a reinvention
of the world so sacred held
within my mortal skin.
So now the space once occupied
with God
is dried
and lying still
with loneliness a constant pill
of bitterness and sadness deep,
the changes cause my soul to weep.
I cast around for love once found,
to find again and fill the void
once more to sleep
in peace
so sure of those deep held beliefs.
