A blowed-out twister woke an Oakie boy, Its death-breath snuffed his candle. In the dark he saw a vision’s shade “Seek your answers in the Handle”. So he became a pilgrim-wrangler; Spent his life spinning round the Pan; Until he found that Handle He’d stay a wandering man.
His feet one day in the Cimarron His mind yet further west, He sat on the bank and splashed his face And laughed to see the jest. “I’ll never seize that Handle It will not come to pass. Invisible, but around me, The dang thing’s ‘neath my ass!”
