EVIL PRIDE

Creeping into every thought
Biting at my toughened heart
Tearing all my hope away
Ripping every dream apart

Turning all the goodness bad
Giving nothing, taking all
Throwing out my last belief
Leaving me to break and fall

Waiting for a show of strength
Pushing, shoving, as I fight
Laughing at my weakened cries
Watching as I hold on tight

Walking off without a care
Knowing I will always hide
Feeling nothing for the crime
Looking back with evil pride

I really enjoy your poems, Tanza. I'm a fan of the honesty (with which) and the way in which you deal with human traits that many are afraid to address in themselves. These traits also apply to ogres.

I wouldn't say so, no, but I can see where you're coming from there. I think I'd be more inclined to say it's about working on your own ego and realizing there are others in this world who will feed off your low self-esteem (if you have one). However, some people will keep on trying to chip away at you, no matter how hard you try to rise above the inferiority you feel. They don't want you to become stronger, because it means they are weaker in your eyes...and in their own.

Unfortunately, for them, they don't realize their actions are what help you to build up a resistance.
