Tied to Be Fried

A gallant knight on horseback spied,
A damsel to an oak tree tied.

He ventured closer to the tree,
And heard the maiden’s urgent plea:

“Please good sir knight I do implore,
My silky wrists are truly sore,
Do cut me from this tree once more,
Before we hear the dragon’s roar.”

Little time there was to spare,
For the dragon was right there.

A mighty beast with burning eyes,
Dwarfing even the oak tree’s size.

The damsel screamed with all her might,
Then pleaded with the handsome knight.

But the armored man stepped away,
Soon as the dragon reached its prey.

With the issuance of its breath,
Met the maiden a fiery death.

The knight pulled out his full flagon,
Passed it over to the dragon.

Then the dragon calmly said,
“Next time you can cook instead.”
