Hello, I'm new here. Having trouble getting to sleep tonight so I wrote a poem on my phone. I'm not entirely sure what it says about the state of my brain at this ungodly hour, but here it is . . .

Dressing Gown Lady.

While strolling through the street in town,
I had the pleasure to meet
A pretty lady in a dressing gown,
With slippers on her feet.

She asked if I had change to spare,
But none could I provide,
Such a shame, she exclaimed,
I would have opened my gown
And shown you what's inside.

Whatever do you mean? I asked,
And she smiled at me and said,
If you saw what was under here my friend,
You'd want to take me to bed.

No offence, said I in short reply,
But I doubt that very much.
You're evidently slighty mad
And I really wouldn't want to touch.

Oh no, she replied and smiled again,
I'm really not a nutter,
I forgot my purse and needed the change
To buy some bread and butter.

Still puzzled some I had to ask,
If this really is the case,
Then why are you wearing your dressing gown
And no makeup on your face?

She said her clothes were in the wash,
From this I must conclude,
That if it wasn't for her dressing gown,
She'd have been completely nude!

Why thank you. Oh and thanks for the avatar, it's almost as handsome as my actual real face. I think my brain is ok now :)

Don't worry about your state of mind, seems fine to me - your poem was good too. Having said that, most of my poetry has been written at the dead of night on a nightshift, so who knows what jabber I spew at that time of the morning!

Thank you both for the kind comments about my poem. I'm sure my brain is always a bit odd to be honest, it just leaks more in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. I'm certain it will produce more deep and meaningful, thought provoking poetry such as that you have just seen.

Hello! What a fabulous poem! I hate you already  You are indeed handsome my friend, you should come and have a drink with me in the tavern......Not that I'm looking for a man, I am in love with a wiz....er I mean a clam so I am definitely off limits  Would you like us to send you a writing pad? Can you not afford one? I mean it's not good practice writing on your phone, it makes a mess and ink is hard to scrub off!
A very warm welcome to Grimney, it's a wonderful place...even though everybody hates me, I don't know why
