stop dreaming child I heard them say so often in my childhood your head's in the clouds keep your feet on the ground I never understood it what reading again I heard them say so often in my childhood yours nose in a book that's not the real world I never understood it stop doodling girl I heard them say so often in my youth you live in a fantasy it's not real I never understood it what singing again I heard them say so often in my youth It sounds quite pretty but won't get you a job I never understood it dream my sweet child I heard myself say so often as a mother the world is your oyster do what you will I hope you understand this so I read then the books and I sang them the songs and I drew them funny pictures and they grew and have flown with their dreams intact I'm so glad that they understood it |
