Post subject:  The grass on the flipside of the coin.

"It's raining, it's pouring!"
"Public transport is late!"
"The TV is boring!"
"This food's out of date!"
"A bit cold, these fries!"
"Broadband is down!"
"No jeans in my size!"
"Too busy in town!"
"My team lost again!"
"Booze prices are rising!"
"This traffic's insane!"
"Too much advertising!"

How do we cope
When life's such a chore?
We just have to hope
That's there's something more!

Or...

Perhaps we're just too blind to see
How good life is for 'you and me'.
We've lost touch with the REAL world
Our grasp of what counts has unfurled.

Whilst we sit here and type these rhymes
Forgetful of more trying times
A person in a 'third world' nation
Is slowly dying of starvation.

He hasn't any running water.
He's going to have to sell his daughter.
She watched as 'soldiers' raped her mother,
And shot her little baby brother.

He sifts through rubbish every day,
For very, very little pay.
His future's bleak but still he tries
To do his best, no tears he cries.

They live in fear all day long
The language that they speak is wrong.
The god they love will get them killed.
If they fight back, blood will be spilled.

He's eight years old, he holds a gun
He's trained to shoot at anyone
Who's not on his side of the line
He'll be lucky to see nine.

So...

Exactly how bad is your deal?
Is it so bad that you feel
The need to moan and whinge all day
Just because the sky is grey?
Sure, it's "relative" but still
Your life is good. I hope you will
Take one step back so you can see
Just how bad your life COULD be!

Excellent sentiment in your wordsmithery!
Needs sharing widely!

Indeed Nydas...humility is our only hope, especially when humanity lets us down so very often.

Ah Leggy, just as I remember you, a skilled bard and travelling wordsmith. When I've got my head buried in a radiigan pie, and mostly spend my time drinking ale and belching the Grimney National Anthem, you are out their quill in hand, writing as fine as you always did.

Hah! Yes, I remember your extraordinary talent for belching pretty much any old tune but the National Anthem was always my favourite. The way it fills the air with the fine aroma of radigan pie and ale is truly something to behold! As for my skilled quillery, you're far too kind...but that's what friends are for!
