EVeryone has been so busy writing poems I barely have time to read them all and I feel the pressure to post one myself as it's been a while!

Where's the Gift?

So a problem comes
with a gift in its hand?
Help me now
to understand.
What good here?
broken hearts and dreams
weeping children
raging screams
of anger, fury, guilt and shame
coming here again, again!
I let them down
They learnt too young
No carefree life
Just smoking gun
the broken family
cast adrift
so show me quickly
where's the gift?

What I like about poetry is that reading other peoples helps me to reach within, and it lets me know I'm not the only one.

That's the spirit Witch. There are millions like us. You just have to know where to look. You know...a lot of the time it's our creativity that irritates people. They would love to have our insight, our different ways of thinking and even our madness!! When people don't understand something, they usually try to get rid of it.

Well...I'm still here and they are not...and I'm far from lonely. Ironically, I was more alone when they all surrounded me with their 'care' and 'concern'...mostly for themselves.

The only person that can truly protect me...is me and I'm doing a pretty cool job of it at the moment! Yay me!!...and yay you too!! ...Yay all of us!!...YAY!!

Funny you should say that Elvira...I have indeed been nibbling. But, as you know, I am being very restrictive where my diet is concerned...only eating wild animals that are bothering farmer's livestock. Hence my current appearance. I really AM what I eat. It's such a pain. However, I feel a hefty feast on the horizon...vicious attacks on young gathering boys. Maybe we are talking many courses and side dishes here. I hope they are unwashed and encrusted in stale sweat. There's nothing like stuffing your face with ne'er do wells, marinated in their own filth. Yum yum. Of course I will offer round. I'm not greedy. Sadly, though, I will be fairly ill-tempered for a while after. It's a shame I can't compliment my meals with some good, decent manflesh. No, no...I know...I'm being good. Sigh...so boring.
