Don't make me feel worse
so that you can feel better
why should your insecurities
put me in fetters

Don't put me down
cos it makes you feel good
if you hate me, ignore me
I wish that you would

Don't expect me
to crawl up you arse
or massage your ego
the whole things a farce

I don't want your job
I'm content with my own
so please bugger off
and just leave me alone!

Welcome Gwenllian, excellent poem. I've known people like that, still do actually. Waste of space, food for Tanza in fact. Have you met Tanza? She'll always cheer you up as long as you don't trespass, then watch your tail!
8-)

I would dearly love to see Tanza eat this one up, I walked away from a job because this person was wasting my time and energy, best thing I ever did!!!

Indeed welcome to Grimney. May you continue to follow your poetic path. I like your poem too my good lady. However, I myself thrive on my huge ego, it has served me well in many a quest. :D

Yes indeed Calaman, Gwenllian does have talent, Holmes Tavern has suddenly become a very interesting and enlightening place to visit. I've read many a tale, heard many a song and still I venture into the mire to visit.

Hi Calaman,

My poem Strip does some explaining for me.

I was once owner of my own business, with clients all over the country. I had all the money I needed, and more beside. I had to close the business, and was unemployed for well over a year.

Since then, much has been stripped away from me. All those illusions we have about what is important in life. All those delusions about ourselves, who we are, and our abilities. All gone now.

I now earn a little over basic wage, doing everything from cleaning floors to sorting out computer problems. I no longer have to prove myself to myself or anyone else. I know my limits, and am content.

I am liberated! I can laugh at my mistakes! I know who I am, and am secure in it. Insults (and praise) have little effect on me.

The only, truly, important thing in my life is the people around me. All who I love and who love me. There is my treasure and my joy.

You can't be pushed off a pedestal when you are lying on the ground!

I think we all come across people like that at some point in our lives. I'd gladly give them a little nudge off their pedestal...why, I'd even dig them a lovely deep hole to help further their journey to hell. I'm very kind like that.

I'd love to send this person in your direction Tanza, though I'm afraid they might give you indigestion!!

No need to send them. Just tell me where they are. I have a scooter...it's fast...it has Ben10 on it!...and who says I have to eat them? I have been known to play with my food for days before finally going to the larder for a bag of peanuts instead. Wasteful...I know. Still...who cares?...not me, that's for sure!!
