The Land of Grimney - The Illustrated Adventures of Cora Pearl, aged 12

You sit there still
frowning hunched staring
your inspiration an idiot screen
ankle deep in angry A4 scrunches
the litter of half thought ideas
This is no life
I'd rather chase a stick
Out there the Sun
Sparkles on dragonfly streams
Coolness under shade
mighty swollen boles
ancient oaks uphold yet
the great blue vastness

I lay my head upon your knee
You can't ignore my doleful gaze
Some exercise is what you need

Rather should we
be wandering free
Where bronze-curled drifts of yesteryear
dance around our feet

What's this?
You're getting up!
Yes, there's no mistake;
your hand reaches for my lead
hanging there by the back door
expectation thrills
But then, I see you check
and slowly draw your empty hand back
where can we be going
without my lead?

My nose is first through the opening door
light sounds smells
excite my senses
the chase is on!

Oh. Not the woodland trail.
Its the garden path again.
Here's the spot
under the old apple tree
Where you buried me
last autumn

Stop those tears
You gave me a full and happy life
We'll be reunited soon enough
With wild wood's eerie gloom
where legends linger forever
and boughs entwine
a fleeting glimpse
of dappled coat
and silent wings

that's it.
Let's sit awhile under dappled shade
our eyes closed
Together we'll relive the good times
