Post subject:  The Artist in Italy
In warm cypress shadows the Artists sits,
Paintbox at his side, gin and tonic in reach.
Deft hands as strong as proud oaks
Dip the brush into jade water with certainty.
An all-seeing hand, dips and dabs
Capturing the chlorophyll filtered light.
His ears sing with the cricket's fiddle,
Bronze skin warmed by sun's sheltered blaze,
Juniper bright bubbles dance on his tongue,
As the sweet-sharp scent of lavender fills his nose.
Not just the green of Garda's trees
Is captured in his paint and paper
But Italy's special delight
And holiday's happy passing days.
