I never felt a love like this before
It's a love like no other
Something i have always hoped for
A love with friendship, humour and heart
A bond so strong it would never part
A love with soul so tender and true
A love that I have found only in you....

Bow

A shot across the bow
the sails down, the bows tied
friendly flags arise
relief, as we battle the tide

THE HELLHOGS ON THE HILL

Gruesome soldiers lined up ready, snarling at their prey.
How had these wretches lived to make it through another day?
So open to attack and almost welcoming their grisly fate.
So tired and defenceless, any help would surely be too late.

They knew these evil creatures only followed if they ran.
The frantic chase was all they lived for, hunting any man.
Glaring at the lifeless group, the angry hellhogs, loud with snorts.
Shuffled down the whitened hill to sniff and smell the tasty fear.

Weakened by their long and weary days spent under fire.
The lifeless men tried long and hard each other to inspire.
I knew I had to help to force this evil army from the hill.
‘And laughed, as one by one I flicked them off the window sill.

Babies.

I work all day long
And what do I see?
Babies that smile
And giggle at me

Babies that roll
And wiggle on mats;
That wear little socks
And cute little hats

They reach for my glasses
And look in my eyes
And gurgle and coo
Like it's all a surprise

When lifting their heads
They gaze at the world,
And show off their teeth
And short baby-curls

I love all the babies
Even those that do cry -
But the part I don't like
Is saying goodbye!

My Nose

I wish my nose was shorter
I'd like one like my daughter
For she has a button nose
that smells sweeter than a rose
Oh God my nose is big
I have nostrils like a pig
Other people do not care
when they stop and look and stare
Oh no they think it's funny
And it's not good when its sunny
As I often wear a scarf
To hide when others laugh.
The only consolation?
Is the nasal installation!
The hair that hangs like wire
kills off a bugs desire
So I rarely catch a cold
No bug could be so bold
to climb into my nose
Especially when it blows!

I know she cheats
I know she lies
I know the secrets in her eyes
I know her touch is false not true
I know the pain I'm going through
I know I dream of love and trust
I know that all we have is lust
I know in time she will move on
I know that hope will soon be gone.

The Day I Slipped out of a Coma (and wished I hadn’t)

Twenty years I’d been asleep and nothing was the same.
I popped my head outside the door and straight back in I came.
So many people old and young were wandering about
There must be something going on to make them all come out.

I ventured out with courage now, no longer feeling scared.
To talk to someone…anyone…to find out if I dared.
Of course I did…I dared with hope that all would be revealed.
I walked right up to one young man whose face was quite concealed.

I said, ‘Why do you walk this way…and why the great big hood?’
He said, ‘Piss off you silly twat!’ As if he thought I should.
I said, ‘What is your problem son…don’t speak to me like that’.
He said, ‘Jog on you piece of crap!’ He didn’t want to chat.

I stopped to watch the wandering mass and couldn’t quite work out
Why everyone had calculators…what was that about?
What was the need to work out sums while walking down the street?
I thought I heard two boys arrange to meet…oh no...to tweet.

I walked a little further to the high street and the shops.
I thought, there’s no point worrying, so this is where it stops.
To Maccy Ds I went and, with my burger, I sat down.
I sat beside two children who had children of their own.

I knew it would be hard to come to terms with all the change.
But, do I really have to live a life that feels so strange?
I can’t imagine never meeting up with friends to chat.
Don’t want to sit at screens and keyboards getting slowly fat.

I grumbled as I walked back home and tried hard not to cuss.
But, then I spied a bunch of people waiting for a bus.
They seemed so happy…talking back and forth and laughing loud.
I couldn’t wait to find out why they smiled…this friendly crowd.

I got a little nearer and it soon became so clear.
These people held a different view of what should be held dear.
They spoke of days gone by and how hard times had made them strong.
They talked about the jobs they’d done with hours far too long.

The memories and tales of uncles, aunties and of friends.
Just made me realize then and there that all these silly trends.
The calculators, posh PCs…the laptops all on line.
Had slowly stolen all the lives that suited us just fine.

No longer can we cope with life without a text or tweet.
No need to write a letter or arrange a time to meet.
And all the while these calculators double up as phones.
We’ll all just carry on becoming boring, mindless drones.

Cat And The Crescent Moon

I sit on top my kingdom proud,
And watch the Cat amongst the crowd,
Solitude, she waits, her enigma of light,
Catches the crescent that seduces the night.

I sit on top my kingdom aflame,
My love for her I must proclaim,
Her beauty breaks my empire wall,
Her spirit guides my heart to fall.

I lie below my kingdom wrecked,
She stares down as our souls connect,
I wonder how she made me swoon,
My life is reborn with her crescent moon.

Tiredness.
Tiredness can creep up on you
Or wash over you in waves
It always has a grip on you
Even when refreshed.

Tiredness doesn't let up
Or let go, but can be loosened
By food, or friends, or activity
But always holds on.

Let sleep take you;
And what mindless dreams
Whisper at you, ignore.
Awaken, whole, ready to battle sleep once more.
