I Love My Bed

My children they look cute
In all the pictures on my shelf
I didn't need much help
Just brought them up myself

I didn't palm them off
So I could have an easy life
I didn't even care
If they caused me lots of strife

I chose to fill my house up
With all their little bits
And when they all got big
I gladly suffered all their shit

Yes all my kids are cute
And their love will never fade
'Cos I made my bed and laid in it
With all the kids I'd made

Nice! Great ode to parenthood, I'll second that one!

Time for bed little one.
Another day has been and gone
So now it's time to go to bed,
Time to rest your weary head.
Here's your teddy, hold him tight
I hope you sleep right through the night!

'Jesus Christ', thank fudge for that!
Sometimes I wish I had a cat
Instead. They're less demanding.
Whilst they might lack understanding
They don't need their nappies changed.
They don't ask "why?" 'til I'm deranged.

Of course, I don't mean it, life is good!
It's just a bit tiring, this 'parenthood'. ;)

Little one, close your eyes.
Dream of spiders, slugs and flies.
Don't feel the tickle on your skin
As the bedbugs burrow in.

The same, slightly modified. Very much a work in progress:

Little one, close your eyes.
Dream of spiders, slugs and flies.
Don't feel the tickle on your skin
As the bedbugs burrow in.
Be quiet now, don't make a sound
The shadow things are all around.
Now, sleep until the morning light
Or else they'll keep you in the night.

Legostan...don't worry, I know how it is.

I mean...for safety reasons and peace of mind...I totally child-proofed my house...and they still get in!!

Here here Chayowl! A veritable feast of verbal titbits is to be had.

Iceman, that is a great poem, very well written and so very true.
many thanks

I agree Nydas. Iceman, that poem is brilliant. I've read it a few times now and still it feels fresh and punchy.
