No wine Princess? It's a good vintage and blood red... How grateful would you be? Never mind. I hope you are comfortable... The chair you're sat upon belonged to the Queen, so it's quite fitting for someone like you. It has to be said... You're very attractive for a mermaid.

My instinct has always been to avoid war. Sinking their ships would go some way to doing this. If we could wipe out Kanara's armies at sea, I could send our forces across the Dudrassa and overthrow their Kingdom.

We'd share the spoils of war with those of the Dudrassa, as a gesture of thanks.

I shall help you, you have my word that no more Krogs will die... As soon as you've informed me that the Kanaran ships have all been sunk... Yes, of course... I will send out soldiers to investigate their mistreatment. When you've scratched my back, if you know what I mean....

Kalvos.... I do not know who that man is, but he will be held back, and protected. If he's one of the Queen's Elite, it's his noble duty to die in battle, the Queen expects it, but I am the Field Marshall and in overall charge of our armies, so I will see what can be done.

Would you like something to eat? Maybe you should stay the night... You should not travel home in the dark... Most unwise....

It is a beautiful chair, thank you. A small glass of wine please but I cannot stay long. My friends will worry if I am not home but thank you for your hospitality. How grateful would I be? Is there something else you need?

Kalvos is aware of his duty as part of the Queens Elite, he would never shirk it but I want him kept out of battle. As I said, I do not want him to learn of this. It is a small price for you, a token of gratitude. I will send out a storm to destroy the first of their fleet which is heading toward Grimney. Once this is done and you have taken action to help the Krogs then send word to me at Holme's tavern and I will destroy the rest in their harbours. Did you know a Kanaran prince once captured one of my kind, he locked her far away from the sea and she died of misery? It was thirty-five years ago but mermaids can be patient when it comes to revenge.

The hour grows late, I really must go home. If you need me, send one of your men to the tavern and I will come here.

Do not concern yourself with Kalvos... He will be safe, as long as you keep your side of the bargain Princess... I am pleased that you came to see me. Your storm will save the lives of many of my knights. The Kanaran Prince and his family will perish, and the streets of his homeland will run with rivers of blood, you will have your revenge... You seem keen for me to drink the wine... Are you trying to get me drunk? ;) A bath? That is sweet but I cannot stay. As I said it would make my friends anxious if I were to stay out all night and besides, I doubt you have suitable quarters for a lady. This is a place for soldiers. I will return to my tavern and sing my song to the storm clouds. The ships will be on the sea floor in the morning.

I am a man of honour....I am just trying to relax you Princess... I always appreciate beauty... Way up in the tower we have very finely decorated rooms. I have collected great artwork from all over Grimney. Perhaps you would like to see it sometime?

Never mind... I shall inform my generals to prepare for invasion. I have longed for an end to this war. I have five empty glass cases in my quarters. The first is for the Prince, the second is for the Princess, and then the King and Queen of Kanara.... And finally the Field Marshal of their armies... Their heads will be severed and placed inside each box, and I will deliver them to the Queen personally.... On that glorious day Princess you may accompany me if you wish...

If you desire to return to your friends, I can send an armed escort with you, but I'm sure you can take care of yourself....

Captain!... See the lady out... Goodnight my Princess...

Commander Casson. I have news from our spies in Kanara. The Kanaran Navy has been annihilated. Their Military Commander went down with three quarters of their army.

Good. Then her letter was true... Admiral Blaylock is dead. I want the body brought to me... I wish to see it...

The mermaid kept her word... She and her kind are powerful allies. Send a messenger to the Queen of Grimney, inform Lord Darius Rackham of what has occurred. Tell him to send a force of knights to the mire and inform the Overlord Grimwood Scribes that no more krog villages are to be burned. Compensation should be paid to those who have lost family and property. See that it is done.

Retribution must be swift, ruthless and brutal. You will lead the strike against Kanara. Your orders are simple, every male over the age of ten is to be executed. Towns, and cities are to be plundered and their wealth returned to Grimney. Any female over the age of fifty is to be executed. The Capital of Kanara is to be turned into a prison. In due course all the prisoners will be shipped to Vorgania, and they will work in the ice mines. See that it is done Commander.

Field Marshal. The orders are very grim... I've fought in many wars, and killed many men, but all were armed, and all fought back.
