*Kalvos sits quietly amidst the ruins. He holds a rose petal in the palm of his hand. A fire blazes in front of him. The marsh hawk descends and Kalvos allows the bird to settle upon his arm*. Hello my feathered friend. Are you looking for me... Now let's see... *He slides the note from around the bird's leg and reads it*. Thank the Zoriat she is safe.... *He places the marsh hawk down, and slides out his journal*. I shall send a message back... That's if you're not too tired to return to your mistress? *He strokes the hawk's neck gently and smiles*.

*Grise appears from the shadows and points his crossbow at Kalvos*. Don't move... Stay completely still, or I'll put a bolt straight through you.... You're quite a prize... Kalvos the knight.... Slayvern will be pleased... The knights should never have come to the mire... |

I wasn't expecting you... Hardly a fair fight with that.... I know your face... And I've been looking for you... Some coincidence... Shall we talk? |

Talk? *He chuckles* No... I'm sick of your voice already... Time you joined Leeandra.... *He fires the bolt and it embeds itself in Kalvos's shoulder, he reloads and fires another. The bolt strikes the knight in the thigh*. Third time lucky... Time to die. *He reloads a third bolt*. Any last words? |

*Kalvos is bleeding heavily... He is still clutching the rose petal, and looks down upon it*.. Yes.... Marsh hawk... stop him.... *The hawk takes flight and flies at their assailant, and tears into the man's face with his beak. Gise drops his crossbow and flaps his arms in desperation*. *Kalvos collapses, and the petal is caught upon a gentle breeze, he can only watch with tears in his eyes as it flutters away from him*. Philomena.... My angel..... Gise Skragon runs away. The hawk pursues him pecking ferociously at the man's face, before returning and settling upon Kalvos's chest to stand guard over the severely injured man*. |

* The mermaid arrives on the back of the kelpie. She slides off and races to the knights side.* KALVOS! My beloved did Vortigern do this? Oh my darling I heard your call. |

Philomena.... It was Gise.... A man named Gise... No honour...So happy you're safe... *Kalvos falls unconscious, the blood is pouring form his wounds.*. |

Forgive me my love, I know you do not believe in revenge...but I must uphold my mermaid honours. Storms of the north, here my call. Pursue Gise Skragon until his fall. Waters of the mire find your prey, drag this vile creature to his death today. * As a storm rages, the mermaid strokes the knight's face tenderly and kisses him.* Let's get you back in our bed where you belong. My aunt will cure you and I will never leave your side. But first let's stop this bleeding. *The mermaid cuts strips of material from her skirt and uses them to bandage the knight tightly.* |

*All is quiet Mace sits and waits. A one red hawk rests upon his wrist. Mace attaches a a note to its legs*. Rawke. Take this message. Deliver it to the tavern. But first. I want you to peck out the eyes of that son of bitch. *He releases the hawk, and sits and smiles. Mace chuckles to himself. Bring me back an eye. Blind him. He can live in fear until I hunt him down and kill him. |

Sixty thousand tobran? You don't give a girl long to raise that knd of cash... Still I haven't been dress shopping this week. Sorry I am late, I don't have that kind of money just lying around the tavern. I should thank yiu for my gift of Gise... In fact. *Philomena takes a pair of diamond earrings for her ears.* A token of my appreciation.... And your cash. *The mermaid leans on her trident.* Are you going to count it? |
