Truth is absolute. Unfeeling. The strongest force in the universe.

Truth tears away the mask, shatters the chains, binds the guilty and frees the innocent.

Truth clears the vision, unearths the hidden.

Kings rule by it, judges pronounce by it, doctors diagnose by it, wise men live by it.

Truth is the hidden fire, the serpent in the grass, the gem in the ore.

So precious is truth, yet so feared, for by it man's most devious schemes are revealed.

And I? I am called upon to see truth, to wield it as a sword.

I see your heart. I see your soul. Your past and your present are laid open to me. I see that which you have hidden even from yourself.

Is this a blessing? Is it a curse? Would that my senses were fogged so that I take people as they seem, and not as they are.

Now I wish to take my rest, amongst people with no guile, no pretense.

I know you Wayland, as I know all men. You, too see men's hearts, but you allow their deceit. You feign belief in their lies. You play along with the part they give you.

I do not have that luxury. But knowing men's hearts does have it's benefits.

In the short time I was in the tavern, I sensed a small being with the courage and heart of a giant. I am no seer. I cannot see the future. But this I feel, with every part of my being. Many will owe their very lives to this small one.
