*Philomena enters the Great Hall and admires the latest gift from her guilt ridden father; a golden harp. She sits down and begins to play the most beautiful, gentle music. The servants and guards forget their duties momentarily and pause to listen.
Darl enters the room and smiles at the beautiful mermaid. For the first time since Philomena married him, she returns his smile warmly. *

Calm yourself, you frighten me with these rages. I wasn't complaining about it, I don't mind about the jewels. Aren't I beautiful enough without them? Let her have them if it makes her happy.
*Philomena takes the dagger from him and places it on the sideboard.*
No doubt she feels insecure. She is in a strange country, you have taken a new wife who she has never met. Is it any wonder she wants to assert herself. It is not good for a young girl to keep to her room all day, perhaps she should join us for dinner sometimes? She needs to feel that I am not replacing her in your affections. Affections have no place in a marriage of alliance such as ours.
*She sighs and kisses his cheek*
Shall I continue playing until dinner or would you like a game of chess.
