Ah Lyda my pretty dove, you know I would rather sit here whispering sweet nothings in your ear... but war is coming and I must choose carefully. If I do nothing, then both will hate me, if I choose the loser then I am ruined... and if I pick the winner. *He grins* There will be lots more diamonds to shower you with. *The fat man pulls Lyda onto his lap.* Now who do you think will win? The Duke of Death with his mermaid Princess and barbarian husband, or the High Council who are trying to put forward the Queen's base born cousin as a regent? |

*Lyda gives an exaggerated yawn.* Oh I don't know, who has the most money and the biggest army? * She gives a small frown* Surely the High Council don't mean to put a bastard on the throne? That is worse than a half mermaid Princess. *Lyda gives a teasing smile at strokes the Duke's beard.* Are you disappointed that Carados did not give you the Princess as a bride? You would make a wonderful king and I hear she is very beautiful. |

Hmmmm there's still time my beautiful one. There are many more battles that Darl Thranmere may fall in. *He smiles and caresses the courtesan* I'd have no need of your services any more. I hear she is very beautiful and it's a well known fact mermaids are insatiable. Immortal too, imagine that. A beauty that never fades, like a gemstone. *He sighs* Yes the High Council are struggling to find a person on royal blood that is born on the right side of the blanket. Everyone else is loyal to Carados and the Queen, and has bent the knee to them. They have the money though. Unless the East is taken and they win the treasury... |
